MG Motor India has released a teaser for the upcoming Gloster Black Storm Edition. This special edition SUV is expected to showcase a darker aesthetic both on the outside and inside. While the teaser doesn’t disclose much information, it does showcase a new black paint color and a distinctive ‘Black Storm’ badge on the front fender.
The automaker is expected to follow suit with other automakers by introducing a cosmetic upgrade for the Gloster SUV, similar to the Tata Harrier and Safari Red Dark Edition or Maruti Suzuki’s Black Edition. The enhancements are likely to include features such as black alloy wheels, a redesigned grille, blacked-out elements, and potentially a dark-themed interior. It remains to be seen if the Gloster Black Storm Edition will also receive new black leather upholstery to complement its exterior.
In terms of powertrain, the MG Gloster Black Storm Edition is likely to retain the same powertrain and mechanical components. This full-size SUV is equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that meets the BS6 Phase 2 emission standards. The front-wheel drive variant generates 159 bhp and 373 Nm of maximum torque, while the four-wheel drive version offers increased power at 214 bhp and 480 Nm of peak torque. Both versions are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The MG Gloster offers a range of additional features such as a 360-degree camera, Level 1 with Blindspot detection, Automated Emergency Braking (AEB), heated seats, wireless charging, an air filter, and connected technology. The prices for the Gloster lineup begin at ₹38.08 lakh (ex-showroom), and it is anticipated that the forthcoming Black Storm Edition will come with a slightly higher price tag. This special edition will contribute to keeping the SUV competitive in a segment where the Toyota Fortuner holds significant dominance.
